We paid the deposit

Yay!

Yesterday my boyfriend and I went to look at an apartment. There were only three one bedrooms left, and only one on the third floor. So we took it.

I gave them $50 for the application fee, $99 for part of the deposit. We turned in the applications today and we'll find out Monday if we got it! I'm so excited and a little nervous. If need be my dad could sign for us. Hopefully he won't have to.

Arrgh. The wait is horrible. I keep thinking I might have left something out.

When we the apartment we will pay another $150 for rest of the deposit when we move in. Move in date is July 1st.

Yesterday I got a letter I put in the mail back. It was a bill. I put a 42 cent postage on it and it was returned because I needed another 2 cents in postage. Was postage raised? Weird thing is none of the other bills were returned.

    Yes, postage was raised to 44 cents on May 11th. Sorry, it was returned.

    Aha! That is why. I wonder how I missed that? But it does beg the question... why wasn't everything else returned?

    is this for a rental? that's weird. we don't have that here.

    our postage is 55c, was raised from 50c last year. but you can still put a 50c stamp on and it will get sent. they give you a bit of leeway to use up the old stamps Smile

    Yep, for a rental. They do credit checks when you rent an apartment. I'll definitely post pics when I get a chance!

    we get reference checks and database checks - but you never pay an application fee. does it get returned to you? or is that something you pay and don't get back? the only thing we pay that we don't get back is rent (of course!) and the carpet cleaning fees at the end, and maybe a pest spray if you have animals.

    You don't get the application fee back. Sometimes you get the deposit back-either in full or half of it depending on the apartment management. Pet deposits you usually get half back- at least that's been my experience.
