An ice cream truck!

April 5th, 2009 at 01:06 am

The financial talk at the expo wasn't what I expected. It wasn't very interesting for one. It was in Q&A form and most of the questions were basic (how to set up a budget, how much in savings do I need, etc.). It was good hearing a few different experts' opinion on everything. But I still wish they had talked about more in depth stuff.

But I got a lot of free samples at the expo. I walked away from the expo with a very heavy bag full free samples. Made the $10 entrance fee (for two) worth it.

While my boyfriend and I were watching a movie before he had to leave for work we heard an ice cream truck! The moment I heard it I immediately sat up and ran right to the window to see where it was. Boyfriend laughed and said I looked like a dog, running around trying to find the ice cream truck.

But it is an ice cream truck! I haven't seen one in years. We both got some ice cream for 75 cents each.

    75 cents!

Our local ice cream truck is an outrage. The cheapest thing is a fudgesicle (sp?) for $1 .... and the cookie ice cream thing my daughter likes to pick is $2.25. I about have a heart attack each time I hear the music, and try (usually in vain) to have her tune it out. I'd much rather go to Chick-fil-a and spent .81 for a vanilla kiddie cone.

I HATE our ice cream truck. It plays the song "Go Tell Aunt Rhody", then it pauses and a female voice yells out "HELLO!?!" Annoying.

Happily, another ice cream truck has made the scene so maybe they can duke it out and the 2nd truck will win, so Aunt Rhody can get lost.

    Hello!

PS - We don't buy from the truck, either. I can buy a half gallon of ice cream for some of the prices they charge. I have four kids so that would be an arm and a leg.

LOL. I don't know the name of the song the ice cream truck plays, but it certainly isn't "Go Tell Aunt Rhody". The lady that ran our ice cream truck seemed to be just doing this part-time for some extra cash.

The tune is called "Picnic" and is put out by the Nichols Electronics company, who makes the music box you heard. It's their 'OMNI' model.
