Where to buy software?

March 10th, 2009 at 11:47 pm

I've been looking for a photo editing software. I would like to get Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 (for Mac) but it costs about $100 new. I searched Amazon.com and found it for $75, but I would like to spend less. Ebay did not have it. Is there anywhere else I can find computer software?

I finally bought my glasses today! I know I said I was going to buy them yesterday, but it was snowing and really cold yesterday. The roads were also a little icy. So I stayed inside and drank hot coco instead.

The total came to $275 with tax. A little high, but I went to three separate eye glass stores and I would have spent about as much no matter where I got my glasses. I can't wait to get rid of my current frames. I have been wearing them for almost 2 years and am tired of them.

I also went to Borders to spend my gift cards. I bought two books- Remember Me? by Sophia Kinsella and Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult. I have about $20 left so when I am done with these books I will go back and buy another.

I still haven't decided on whether or not to get a PO box, but I am leaning towards getting one. I don't have to pick up mail every day and there are a couple within 2-3 miles of my place.

Oh, sorry, that probably looks like a rude comment. When I first attempted to read it, it had no title and not content.

Sorry, I hit return before I typed anything! I fixed it though and added a post. Big Grin I didn't take it as rude, don't worry.

Try the adobe photoshop website. They have free trials there so you can try the product out first.

I think I will try it out first. But if I do end up liking it, where would the best place be to get it cheaper?

I like Microsoft PictureIt! But I don't know what it costs.

I have a Mac so PictureIt! would not work, but thanks for the suggestion!

I don't know for certain about this but I heard of a free program for editing pictures called Gimp. I haven't looked it up yet myself but I'm going to. You should check on it just in case it does what you need.

What kind of photo editing are you looking for? If you're looking for something light that you just want to get rid of the occasional blemish or red eye on a photo you've uploaded, I think iPhoto is plenty good. It also helps you organize your photos.

On the other hand, if you're looking to produce images from scratch (or at least heavy image editing), it would be best to stick with something like Photoshop.

For the latter, it is ideal to go straight for the ideal software like Photoshop because the interface is different enough that your skills for each software will not be easily transferable from one to the other.

However, if you are truly strapped and have no budget then Gimp is pretty much the best choice, although serious graphic artists will find the money somehow and go straight for Photoshop as well as a large Wacom tablet....

You post on freecycle if any one has one that they are no longer in need of
